Know where you fitbefore you apply.
PairScore for Applicants is the first model built on the platform. You have spent years building a profile: the academics, the hours, the writing. It scores every school on your list against that profile and gives you one number per school, one tier, and the reasoning behind both.

One score per school.Three ways to read it.
PairScore, Position Tier, Thriving Score
The PairScore is the headline: one 0–100 number per school, built from independently calculated dimensions. The Position Tier turns that into Strong Fit, Moderate Fit or Low Fit. The Thriving Score answers a different question entirely: how closely a school's environment and support structure align with the conditions you work well in. It is deliberately only minimally influenced by your academics.

Model it first.Then commit.
Growth Playground
Another semester of research is a real cost: a year of your life and a lab you cannot quietly walk away from. Model it first. Growth Playground re-scores your whole list against the change and reports Cycle Movement: which schools moved, and by how many positions. Free accounts include two scenarios, and nothing you try touches your real profile.

Illustrative example. Sample data, not real institutions or real results. Switch the scenario to re-sort the list.
Every score comeswith its reasoning.
School Alignment Insights
A number you cannot interrogate is a number you cannot act on. Each school carries a written explanation: which of your experiences the model read, which part of that school's stated mission it matched them to, and what it could not find. That last part is the one worth reading twice. It is the shortest description you will get of what your application is missing.

Where you align
- Riverbend's mission names primary care for rural and medically underserved communities in its own state.
- Your mobile clinic hours and your stated intent to practice in the county you grew up in map onto that directly.
Where you do not, yet
- Riverbend weights sustained longitudinal involvement. Your clinical hours are spread across four short placements rather than one long one.
- Nothing in your profile speaks to their rural immersion track, which their own materials treat as central.

What to bring.Less than you think.
PairScore is not another application to fill in. Almost everything it reads is material you have already written for AMCAS.
- 01
Your academics
GPA, MCAT if you have one, coursework. This is the attainability half of the score, and it is the part PairScore can read fastest.
- 02
Your experiences, written out
The AMCAS-style Meaningful Experiences you have already drafted. PairScore reads the narrative, not a checkbox: hours in a category tell it far less than a paragraph about what you did with them.
- 03
What you actually want
The population you want to serve, the setting you want to work in, whether research is the point or a requirement. Mission Alignment has nothing to align to until you say it.
The words we use,defined plainly.
These are the product's own definitions, unedited. If a term means something different on this page than it does inside the app, the app is right and this page is a bug.
- PairScore
- Your overall compatibility score for a school based on academics, experiences, mission fit, and application alignment.
- Position Tier
- A label describing how strongly this specific school aligns with your profile right now, derived from your PairScore for that school. It describes the strength of an applicant–school relationship rather than functioning as an admissions probability or an applicant percentile.
- Thriving Score
- Evaluates how closely a school's environment, resources, culture and support structure align with the conditions in which an applicant may be best positioned to thrive. It is minimally influenced by your academic profile.
- Academic Fit
- Measures how closely your academic profile aligns with a school's typical academic range and expectations.
- Mission Alignment
- Measures how well your experiences, values, and goals align with a school's mission and priorities.
- Growth Playground
- Lets you model a realistic change to your application, such as an MCAT retake or additional research, and see how it may affect your school alignment before deciding where to spend your time.
- School Alignment Insights
- Structured, evidence-linked explanations showing the information that contributed to an alignment result.
- Cycle Movement
- Shows how your competitiveness changes within an application cycle. In the Growth Playground, this reflects how many positions a school moved from its original ranking on your school list.
